No surprise really Rasoul jaan. They've been hanging pictures of Khomeini and Khamenei everywhere since the beginning. Idol worship isn't just about statues. Even calling Khomeini an Emam is idol worship at its finest as far as I'm concerned. Giving anyone any status that raises him/her above man (unisex) is considered idol worship. These guys have the exact same mentality of desert dwelling Arabs from 1400 years ago. Putting a new label on shit doesn't make it smell any better.

In Iran they make idols out of E1 through E12+1.
In every culture there is a different type of idol worship. Not to say that it is OK. In my opinion all types of idol worship is bad, including the ones in the west that leads to earning a lot of money for the western idols.

1) Western idols (singers, actors, etc.) are not a permanent phenomenon, they are part of pop culture mostly as you pointed out to sell products, etc. In relative terms, they have a short life span…they disappear in couple of years usually.

2) Our religious idols last for eternity! Not to mention, they bring nothing but permanent grief to our culture….I personally would take a couple of bubble headed “idols” like Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian over Hossein, Ali or Big E.Z. any time. ;)

true, contradiction was too light of a word. hypocracy is a better way to discribe it.

In Islam every thing is allowed. Even lying. Doroghe maslahati. If you lie for something good it is allowed. So when you or an akhond you know what is good.
