Do you like the name IranianCorner for the name of our site or not?

A big YES from me.

Absolutely Brilliant suggestion from Pedram, for those who pop in here before checking the other thread.

It has all the requiremens we set out:

* Easy to remembers and spell.
* Generic, but at the same time can be geared toward Football (as in a corner) for those who really wanted to have some sort of a football reference in there. The foobtall specific section can even be IranianCorner.Net :)
* Domain name was available! This was obviously the most important thing.
* It's a fun name - nothing to deep or heavy. And not too long.
* It's really decriptive. We're all Iranian (since Sammy hasn't even posted anything!) and this is our corner of the WWW.
* Has a great abbreviation, I C - I see!
* Has great potential for a nice and simple logo.
* Great potential for marketing.
* Etc. Etc. Etc.

I hope most people will aprove it, so we can move to bigger and better things with our COOL new name.

-We are going with the first good name, instead of looking if there arent possible any better bc this one came out of nowhere also, and then we could actually give a choice between names, now its just yes or no.
-I cant really vote for no either bc it is a good name, we dont have anything better and its better than what we have now, but it doesnt have anything special, but maybe we cant come up with anything better. But maybe this is as good as it gets, lets wait for the votes.

It's a good name. It's special in the sense that "corner" has a double meaning and that the abbreviation is nice, etc., etc. The only thing I can think of that is more special than this is

LOL well did you read my post, I said it better than we got and we might not get better but this is our first good one and I just wonder wether or not others would follow, giving us a choice rather than only having one. And the fact that corner has many meaning doesnt make it special/full of character, but its a good name.But it is important to start on logo, first page etc and we can only do that if we have site name. Anyway not gonna vote.

Not having problems with the name, but in my mind when voting you need multiple idea's to chose from, like you need multiple candidates to run for president. If it isnt a real vote then, why vote ? But maybe I should have just kept quiet bc most people like it so far.

I voted yes. I particularly like the name beacuse we can do so many different things with the site.

I like the name. It's good. But are we in a rush, could we think up better? I voted yes, though.

Kasara jaan I really like that last logo suggestion. I'd suggest some minor modifications though,

1 - If we have the flag going the other way, the picture it will take up less space.
2 - Stick the flag to the post (there's a little gap right now).
3- Invert the "C" as Pedram suggested, so that it look like the actual corner thing on a Football field.

Kazem jaan, we're not in a major rush, but that's the best we've come up with IMHO in the last 2 weeks. Is it PERFECT? Perhaps not, but this particular one meets all the criteria that we had and we don't really know when the next good suggestion will come up - in 2 days or in 6 months? lol. We can always register other names and link them altogether.

The site name forum started 10 days ago, It doesnt matter Behroo, you are just exited about the site. I think rushing things aint gonna make them better. I already said with starting the site name thread that in doesnt need to be decided that soon. Maybe we couldnt come with anything better, maybe we could. I just like having choices. Linking to many names is gonna be sloppy, better we dont do that and we cant go on changing the name that fast after this name change, bc it is such an important decision, I would have liked if we had given it more thought and maybe more members could bring more site possibilities and not everyone has posted in that thread either. I'll be ok with the decision though cause it is a good name.

About the logo's, I just did a couple of things fast, the flag isnt supposed to be stuck to the pole bc it is the dot in the i in IC. Same thing with the C (is a player taking a corner), if you invert it it isnt a C anymore, although it doesnt necessarily needs to be, and the flag to this side looks better artisticly and the white in the pic is gonna be removed in the end anyway, so it wont take that much space, but this isnt really the suggestion for the final logo (but some options), bc someone good needs to change it with good tools other than paint :D

Well.. I think it's a good name in describing us well and also as Behrou says it could have 2 different meanings (football related) which could be of great advantage. But at the same time, I was thinking, can't we find a shorter and simpler name? I mean after all we came to the conclusion that the site is not sports related anyways, so...
I don't know but I also think, as we said before, the name would be cachtier with a little humor in it.

But generally, I do like it. It is definitly better than what we have now. So I guess I also have to agree with Kasra and Kaz. Do we have to rush into this? Perhaps we can think more and come up with more options (candidates) before deciding?

My only issue with waiting any longer is that uncertaintly in any way, is the worst enemy of success. We've been around for less than 20 days and for more than half of that period we've been dealing with the uncertainly of a name change, lack of a logo stemming from the name issue, etc. We can not market the site in any shape or form when there's a cloud hanging over it for something as simple as the name.

That's the only issue I personally have with waiting any longer. Had there not been any suggestion of a name change and we decided to bring the issue up in 3 months and after we had come up with that perfect name, it would have been a totally different story IMHO. For now, it sounds wierd if we tell people to come and join the Iranian Forums and oh yeah btw, that's not what it's going to be called in a couple of weeks. Do you guys see where I'm going with this?

If we remove the poll for the site name change (which keeps becoming a sticky on its own ;)) and consider that it's a done deal and we have 3 months to come up with a new name and in the meantime we're going to market the site with the current name, I personally have no problem with waiting. But we can't decide to change it in 2 weeks time even if we come up with a better name. It's just the uncertainty issue that I have a problem with. And that's because in my pesonal experience I've seen how any type of uncertainly becomes detrimental to an organization's success. That's just my 2 cents as member of the site and in no way should have any more wight to it than any other couple of pennies. ;)

I realkly like the last one in the second set too. It's even good to go without the Iranian flag, the ball speaks a thousand words! ;)

Good work Kasra. I also like the logo but think its a little too crowded.
The only thing I suggest changing is the onion in Iranian flag, it should be easy to white it out. :)

This name is good, but I would really love it if it contained the word "Patogh" somehow. Or similar to corner, but the actual iranian name:

I like patogh, except it may be too limiting and not easily remembered for non Iranians. On the other hand Iranian corner is as generic as one can get.

I really like yours Brando. I think it should be simple and its good to play with the corner concept. Just IC with a lil accessoires is good too though, clean but less creative of course. I think this is a good name for logo's, we need to keep the logos comming so we can later put them toghether in a thread, so anyone who want to have a go, give it a try. We can ask someone with graphical knowledge to clean it up later, its more the idea and concept I think.

No rush though IMO, although some other might think otherwise ;)
