YouTube - President Obama Comments On Winning Nobel Peace Prize
What do you think?

Implicitly I think it was a reference to Neda.

In any case, I think peace nobel prize has really become an irrelevent joke over the years.

Good for him, although I didn't like the part about the world having always looked to America! It's obviously historically inaccurate and short-sighted - small Amercian flaw, if you ask me, the French, the Germans and especially the English! ;)

It's very nice that he did that though. On the one hand, we have the dude that ahres his gold medal with that piece of AN and then on the other hand, we have one of the most powerful men in the world sharing his Nobel price with regular people. One is called kissing a Shitty ass, the other one is called being humble.

R.T?????
How could you say that?
Even Yaaser Arafat won Nobel Peace prize.
Please do not insult the institution.

Did you know how French admirals parade and inspect French battle ships?

Washington Post thinks Neda Agha Soltan deserved the Peace Prize more than any one else including Obama.

Very nice article. Thanks for sharing it Rasoul jan!

Also a very good gesture by Obama. But I guess the Nobel prize commitee's policies are to only give the prize to a living person.

The same thing happened to Shamlou, didn't it? From what I remember he even won the prize in litterature but before the ceremony he died so they had to give the prize to someone else.

A joke, a sham...let me borrow a rant:

LOL Kaz. The guy is pissed off :)

But on a serious note, the beauty of Obama's win is that the nominations for the
candidates closed 1st February!!! Can anyone tell me when Obama was inaugurated??

The Nobel Prize has become an award rewarded for political agendas more than for doing actual good in the world. It's about as prestigious as a MTV Video Music Award. Al Gore got one for making a video, Obama got one for being a great orator after 10 days in office.

I guess escalating wars, getting ready to enter Pakistan and Iran constitutes as peaceful international relations. These men give me hope that one day I may receive a Nobel Prize :)

Sly jAn,
I disagree with "proper gesture by Obama". What made him to refrain from mentioning Neda's name or the country she is from or both?

He didn't say any of those just because he thought it could generate some sort of barrier or ambiguity to future negotiation.

Nobel Prize Institution should refrain from awarding politicians period. That is who they are. Politicians!!
I supported Obama during the election just because I thought he is an absolutely better alternative to McCain and the cronies. Today I look at the things and I realize so far nothing has changed.
U.S is still conducting 2 major wars in M.E and Obama's first influence is adding 40,000 more troops in Afghanistan.
Gitmo is still open and operational, rendition still continues and I personally yet to see a single person indited (or even named) for the past torture accusations. Preemptive military strikes on Iran nuclear infrastructures (may be even civilian) is still on the table.

Nobel Peace Prize my touch.

Rasoul jan good post as usual.

I am begining to think Obama won the Nobel prize simply because he is not George Bush!

Having said that, don't be surprised if 10 years from now George Bush is awarded the prize. It all depends on the future of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Good comments dudes...IMHO the "Nobel Peace committee" has pretty much discredited the value of Nobel prize. Imagine all those hard working scientists, some of which spend a lifetime to accomplish something of immense significance for man kind are thinking WTF is this joke? Look at some of the recipienets of this so called prize: Robin, Arafat, Carter, Gore, Obama.....maybe Supreme Taco will be qualified next year if he does not kill any more than he already has.

lol :D

-Barack Obama’s Teleprompter: Big Guy says Bill Clinton called and was gracious in defeat; offered to fly Kanye West over 4 the Nobel awards ceremony.

-"President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The committee said they gave it to Obama partly for his idealism and commitment to global cooperation, but mostly for calling Kanye West a jackass." --Conan O'Brien

-"In a surprise decision, President Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize Friday. In other premature awards this week: high school football player Billy Reynolds has been named this year's Heisman Trophy winner; fifth grader Amber Collins has been named Miss America; and nine-year-old Dylan Holt has been named People's 'Sexiest Man Alive.'" --Seth Meyers

-Obama also awarded Nobel prize in chemistry. "He's just got great chemistry," says Nobel Committee.

LOL @ the Moon cartoon.

U.S peace keepers are so bored they are even bombing Moon in the same day they were awarded with Nobel peace prize.

Also they just announced the infamous M.O.P (Massive Ordnance Penetrator) bombs entering U.S armed forces service.

Neda is not alive. I would have given that to Karobi who can help Iranians.
Obama has got the price for not being Bush.

Teflakia, they were never ship builders if you think about it. And from what I learnt today on a job site, they can't make mufflers either, even if their life depended on it. ;)
