</td></tr> </tbody></table> <!-- E IIMA --> <!-- S SF -->Several top commanders in Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards have been killed in a suicide bombing in the volatile south-east of the country.
Iranian state media say at least 20 people have died in the attack, in the province of Sistan-Baluchistan, and dozens more injured.
The commanders were in Pishin region for a meeting with tribal leaders.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which was condemned by Iran's Parliamentary Speaker.
<!-- E SF -->Iran has previously accused a Sunni resistance group, Jundallah, of terrorist activities in the province.
Sistan-Baluchistan is mainly made up of the Baluchi ethnic group who are Sunni Muslims, some of whom oppose Shia rule.

'Terrorist' attack
The deputy commander of the Guards' ground force, General Noor Ali Shooshtari, and the Guards' chief provincial commander, Rajab Ali Mohammadzadeh, were among the dead, Irna state news agency reported.
Parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani, speaking at an open session of parliament which was broadcast live of state radio, said: "We express our condolences for their martyrdom.

"The intention of the terrorists was definitely to disrupt security in Sistan-Baluchistan Province."
Sistan-Baluchistan province, which borders both Pakistan and Afghanistan, has long been affected by smuggling, drug trafficking, banditry and kidnapping.
Jundallah, also known as the Popular Resistance Movement of Iran, says it is fighting against the political and religious oppression of the country's Sunni minority.
In May, three men were executed for their role in a bombing of a mosque during evening prayers which killed at least 19 people in the south-east city of Zahedan in Sistan-Baluchistan.
The hangings came two days after the attack and the men were in custody on other charges at the time of the bombing.
Revolutionary Guards were among 11 people killed in an attack in 2007 in Zahedan.

Thanks for sharing Cia jaan. This sort of thing is definitely happening more often now and spreading as well. After they "alledgedly" dismantled that terrorist group in Kordestan, there has been other violence there including the shooring of a Basiji. There was also a major ambush on "police" in Hormozgan a few days ago. If I'm not mistaken all 3 provinces are major smuggling routes. I can't help but think that the arming part of an armed conflict may be underway at least at some capacity.

This is both good and bad! It’s always good to see Sepah’s leadership go to hell as by default and their job function, they just can’t be decent human beings.

On the other hand this Jendeh-allah group is nothing more than Balouchi version of Talebon…I hope this kind of insurgency does not escalate in Iran.

I second that R.T jAn,

It is nothing but pure terrorism, no matter who is the target.

The clean and non-violent image of Iranian opposition movement will get tainted around the world, also draconian regime will use it to purge more key figures of the opposition.

and peiknet's version:

Jafari has apparently said in very clear terms today that the Americans and the British were behind the bombing and that they should expect retaliatory action!!! Everyday, the comments of the fantics become dumber and more provocative.

On the other hand, most of the reform politicians as well as the US and Britain have condemed the bombing. I'm confused, who are the bad guys again?! ;)

TEHRAN, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- An Iranian judiciary official announced on Tuesday that the country has arrested three suspects in connection with the recent terrorist attack in Iran's southeastern province, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

"The suspects were arrested in one of the cities in Sistan-Baluchestan province," Zahedan (the capital of the province) Public and Revolution Prosecutor Mohammad Marzieh was quoted as saying.

"Iran's security bodies have identified all elements involved in the attack ... (and further) investigations into the terrorist attack are currently underway," Marzieh said.

On Monday, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a message that Iran will punish the terrorist aggressors who targeted people and their security.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Commander Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari said Monday that the United States, Britain and Pakistan are aiding the Jundallah terrorist rebels, the claim which has been rejected by those countries.

The deadly suicide attack by Sunni rebel group Jundallah (God' s soldiers) occurred early Sunday in Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan province near Iran's border with Pakistan while the local officials were preparing a ceremony in which the local tribal leaders were to meet the military commanders of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

Nearly 45 people were killed, including a number of the IRGC commanders, and dozens of others wounded.

Well!! I'm impressed, just like the last bombing in Baluchestan the regime has arrested 3 people within a span of 2 days.
And is you are enjoying such an effective security apparatus the how could these guys conduct such a devastating attack on your cronies before being identified and neutralized??

And the trick part:

"Iran's security bodies have identified all elements involved in the attack ... (and further) investigations into the terrorist attack are currently underway," Marzieh said.

If you have identified "all the elements" then why further investigation??
Arrest them all and execute them in 30 minutes like you've always been doing for past 30 years.

Mr. A, they've apparently asked Pakistan for permission to enter! That's going to elevate things to levels that would not at all be desirable for the region IMHO.

Pakistan will never allow such a Iranian troop deployment in their soil. They made a big fuss out of U.S drones flying over FATA and NWFP, in 2008 they even started shooting at an American Army helo which was penetrated not more than 100 kilometer into Paki territory and they are supposed to be allies.

It was a boasting posture from I.S when AN called Zardari to let Iranian forces enter Pakistan and chase Rigi's gang.
Also I.S might do some insurgency around that triangle territory (Kundi area) shoot some RPG and get back in Iran quick.

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Gunmen shot dead two policemen in Iran's volatile southeast late on Monday, a day after a suicide bombing in the same province killed 42 people, including senior Revolutionary Guards commanders.

Mohammad Arab, a local police official, said the policemen were killed by two attackers in the city of Iranshahr in Sistan-Baluchestan province, the semi-official Mehr News Agency reported.

Two Iranian policemen shot dead in southeast: report

No other details were immediately available and it was not clear whether Monday's incident was linked to the previous day's bombing attack.

Fifteen Guards members were among those killed in Sunday's attack, including six senior commanders, Iranian media reported. Tribal chiefs and other civilians also died in the deadliest such incident in Iran since the 1980s.

A Sunni rebel group called Jundollah (God's soldiers), has claimed responsibility for the October 18 attack in the impoverished province bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The attack highlighted deepening instability in Iran's southeast. Many minority Sunnis live in the desert area, which has seen an increase in bombings and clashes between security forces, ethnic Baluch Sunni insurgents and drug traffickers.

One thing that occures to my mind is that why should they hold such a meeting close to the border? It will be easier inside the town. Next why have they sent so many military representatives to do the talking. It will be wise to send ordinary politicians.
Maybe this has to do with Narko. We know the khoda nayamorz was in leshgare khorasan earlier and we know he has not done a good job to fight narko dealers
since there are so many adictors in the country.

This whole thing reminds me of "God Father" movies, there must have been some business disagreements or some turf battle going on and someone with more power send a message to those involved.

I don't think it was personal nor political...it was all about runing a business and playing by the rules.

Good.
My guess is that it has been US who have wanted to reveal Sepah is making mony
in drug business.
Sepah accuses US. US condemns the bombing. They have not done it directly but have asked Jandolah to do it in revenge for earlier executions of some of their members. IR knows that if US reveal documents that sepah is addicting its own people to drug riots will be larger.
Next Iran and west reach and agreement in Vien about nuclear issue.
