For the past few days I'm remembering this story from the 7th grade in Nikan school. One of our teachers (Mr. Jafarzadeh) had told us this story about some village that was getting destroyed by something and their only way out was to cross this river with strong currents and everyone was scared to even try it but then one guy says if you all repeat this prayer with me you have nothing to fear. And they all start chanting the prayer and make it across the river. A few days later on a Thursday coming from school at noon we were walking through the back roads to get to Shariati street dead ahead of us were 3 stray dogs. We were all just standing there wondering what to do and we figured we better turn around and use yakhchal street instead when one of the guys in our group (I think his name was Sadegh) said don't you remember Mr. Jafarzadeh's story? We need to all learn from that and we will have nothing to fear. We told him he was crazy but then he said I will prove it to you all. So he starts walking towards the dogs and all the time at the top of his lungs he's shouting this prayer. We're thinking any moment the neighbors are gonna start yelling at him to shut the hell up. I have such a clear memory of this scene that I even remember the part of the prayer he was saying when all hell broke loose. So he's continuing forward and screaming "va akremna belhoda valesteghamaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAA KOMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK!!!!!!!!!!!! The next thing we know he's running as fast as he can right past us with his pant leg torn and the 3 dogs are chasing him at full speed. He even dropped his school bag right there (which we retrieved and later gave back to him). Later on he told us right at the scene one of the dogs lunged at him and bit his thigh while another ripped his pant leg and after they caught up with him they kept surrounding him and bumping him. The only positive is that with the dogs chasing him the street was cleared for us to pass so in a way our teacher was right. Except in Sadegh's case.
