Sure we all know Beheshti was killed. By whom? are all speculations.
I was very good friend with TaleghAni's son Mehdi, he never mentioned any hint of foul play. Taleghani could not have any drastic effect on stopping akhoonds from taking over to justify him being killed. He could be easily side lined just like Bazargan. They managed to side line Montazeri without killing him.

I'm not disputing that notion I'm just saying it will remain speculation until proven with fact. But I can tell you about a fact that I was eye witness to. While the Beheshti was alive calling some one "hezbollahi" was considered as an insult and the day after the assassination of Beheshti 4 o'clock in afternoon thugs flooded the street of Tehran chanting pro hezbollah slogans and beating every body on their way claiming to be the true followers of Khomeini and Rajaei the president at that time was was at the front.

Popularity was not a factor for Khomeini and he never was intimidated by it. With one small creed he stripped every thing away from Banisadr who had 98% of the votes at the end of first Iranian presidential election and he was also the commander in chief of Iranian armed forces during active war with another nation. Banisadr could be facing firing squad if he hasn't gone hiding.

Khomeini has been the most powerfull man but Khamenei, Beheshti, Reafsanjani has also been powerfull. It eamns they have all their own gang.

My brother speacks French. He says if Bani Sadr had to go to examination
and his teacher was the examinator he wouldn't pass (C -).
