Toofan 05-07-2009, 04:15 PM Is that the numbers exported in front of country names?
If thats so then its not a big deal. Probably irooni ppl that have ordered them.
Motori 05-07-2009, 04:18 PM Ali jAn,
That is what I don't like about Wiki, probably an over zealous Iranian is sitting behind key board and editing the information (misinformation) 24/7.
AFAIK Samand does not comply with EU emission and pedestrian impact standards.
Any car Iran can muster a thin penetration in EU market would be Runna.
IIRC Countries in which Samand is being sold are:
Turkey
Belarus
Turkmenistan
It is possible some one or a small company has taken limited # to some of those countries but that will not be considered as official export meaning there will not be any dealership network for future support.
Jordan, Saudiarabia, Egypt and Pakistan will not allow sporadic imports either.
Toofan jan, the numbers are for the reference to the facts down in the page in wikipedia.
Rasoul jan, yeah I suspected something was fishy too. I mean even if the car's standards were ok, out of all the countries, at least exporting to Egypt wouldn't really be realistic.
But Rasoul jan, why do you say Runna has a better chance to get into EU than Samand? What's its improvements compared to the latter?

Ali jAn,
Runna already has the certificate for class 4 & 5 EU emission standards, it complies with EU pedestrian impact regulations and has earned 3 star safety rating in Europe which I don't believe Samand has any of those ratings or way below Runna if any.
Bi-Honar 05-07-2009, 08:48 PM Well, sending one or 2 cars to any country is not a problem and will get that country on the list. I mean, the Iranian embassies in these countries can buy a couple of cars for their staff and by some stretch of the imagination, it could be considered "export" But, is the infrastructure (dealership, service personnel, etc.) set-up in any of these countries. That's the big question, because until then I wouldn't really count is an "export".

Oh yeah, now I remember you mentioning it before. Thanks Rasoul jan!

Yeah I guess. But as Rasoul says, I think they do export Samand to afew countries, like Turkey.
Bazam khoobe...

Ali jAn,
I didn't mention Venezuela which is going to be next nation to launch Iranian cars in the streets and still will not be considered export. IKCO has an assembly plant just outside of Caracas which is targeted to produce 25,000 cars per year and they will proudly be labeled as Venezuelan vehicles.
I think Iraq is the next on the list followed by some former USSR satellite nations.
Far east market will be dominated by Indian cars, Tata has already introduced the ultra economical Tata Nanu which is being sold just under 4000 USD and people from far east will fit in it just fine, they might even use it as high capacity taxi. :D

Bi-Honar 05-07-2009, 10:08 PM LOL @ High Capacity taxi. Is that a 4 door car Rasoul jaan? Would you believe Smart sells in Canada for about $25,000 CDN?!!!
DireStraits 05-07-2009, 10:23 PM I also think it sounds interesting. But I doubt it is true.

Yeah I've heard about Nanu cars.
Actually I'm a huge fan of Smart. I think it looks absolutely fantastic and cool. The Nanu cars remind me a lot about Smart.
But are you for real??? They're gonna launch Samand/Runna in Venezuela and call them Venezuelan cars??? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't tell me they're gonna do the same in Iraq and the other countries you mentioned??!!!

This new factory makes up the company's largest overseas car production plant.

http://www.payvand.com/news/06/oct/IKCO-Samand.jpg
Syrian's Prime Minister Muhammad Naji Al-Utri, Industries Minister Fouad Issa Aljouni, Iran's Ambassador to Syria Ahmad Mousavi, Iran Khodro's Managing Director Javad Najmeddin, and Iran's Deputy Housing and Urban Development Minister Mousa Barzegari attended the inaugural ceremony, reported the Mehr News Agency.
The project cost some $40 million including the body and engine assembly lines as well as the painting unit.
IKCO, the Middle East's largest automaker, launched the first phase of the Samand assembly line in Damascus in 2007.
The plant has the production capacity of about 10,000 cars per annum that could be increased to 30,000 cars by tripling the working shifts.
The company plans to increase its production to one million vehicles a year. It is anticipated that 800,000 cars will be produced at domestic plants and the remaining will be produced at sites outside Iran.
IKCO's new models -- including the private passenger sedan Samand, the wheelchair-accessible Samand, the R90, a second generation LNG-powered 7-seat van, and the dual-fuel Peugeot sedan 407 -- were unveiled at a recent international auto exhibition in northern Iran and will soon be made available to consumers.
Iran Khodro has so far produced three national cars named Samand, Miniator, and Runna, the latest was unveiled in April
