Iran had 13.3 divorces per 100 of the population in 1385, and, Kazemipour added, 20% of the country's total divorces happened in Tehran.

Ilam Province has the lowest divorce rate in the country followed by the provinces of East Azerbaijan, Golestan, Yazd, Chahar-Mahal Bakhtiari, and Sistan-Baluchestan, the deputy added.

According to the figures, Isfahan ranks fifth in divorce rate behind the provinces of Fars, Markazi, Kordestan, and Tehran, she said.

Sociologists called cultural and economic problems the main reason behind such an increase in the country's divorce rate over the last years.

Not surprising and not a bad thing either. There are a lot of families who have internal problems. And sometimes it is healthier and more beneficial to just stop thinking of divorce as a taboo and get divorce if they are not happy.
