As it was illustrated by consumer report last week, iPhone 4 has an antenna problem if you grip the phone certain way.

Today, Steve Job came out and said that they are offering refunds to unhappy customers and also a free case which should solve the problem. These are great steps in making sure people are happy with the product.

He also made two claims that I was wondering if people here have experience with it here.

1) He claimed that 4G Antenna is better than 3GS as customer have been reporting.

Can any of the members who have experience with both device confirm or deny this ?

2) He claimed that ALL smart phone have this problems. A reporter in the audience said he has tried the special grip ( demonstrated by Steve) with his BlackBerry and it did not happen and Job said it is because we are in strong signal area and ....

I don't recall reading anything on this issue when it comes to other smart phones so this is big claim.

Did anyone here experience such a problem with other smart phones or recall reading an article on this ?

Thank you

He is full of it.

LOL, I know. It did sound like a big claim to me to say all other smart phones have the same problem.

I also think they they knew about this problem or Their TEST team should be fired as they should have test for this. It is a simple concept and I don't know how they managed to screw it up :)

He didnt BS. on many Nokia's if you hold on the top left, the signal will go down. try it. find any phone with an inside antenna & hold around it on diff places... you'll find a spot that signal bar drops.

It's true, I have a friend who just bought one and you can't call him. He took it back. There was a report on this signal problem on BBC News on Friday. Apple has agreed to provide all customers with a case or you can return it for a full refund. ouch!

I never fell for the iphone, though admittedly I was put off by the extortionate price. I can't justify spending £500 on a damn phone just so that I can play with my fingers. Most of the applications are useless to me.
It'd be very un-business-like of me to buy such a toy.
