I received an e-mail containing the following information on Amir Kabir, the very first politician in Iran’s history (after Islam) to speak of constitution. His famous saying has been documented when he recommended “KONSTAASIOON” is needed to Naserdin Shah.

As the e-mail below states, it is indeed a shame that we do not have such RAAD-MARD’s remains in a place where it belongs to!! I hope that some day his remains are brought to Iran to be buried instead of “Shahids” in Amir Kabir’s University. Or, in front yard of Majlis.

In the summer of 1977 I was assigned to a covert operation which required traveling through Eye-rack with 2 short stop in Bagdad on going to Jordan and return. This Shah's time when there was NO tourist relations and Visa exchange among both nations. I took a trip to atabaat (Kabala, Najaf, Koofeh, Helleh and Kazmain), I was shocked to see that all merchants specially in Karbala and Najaf spoke fluent Persian and every one would gladly accept Iranian Currency with no difficulties what so ever. The narrow and old alleys around Karbala and Najaf were brimming with Iranian pilgrims from all fact of life and age. That is how dedicated these people are to those who invaded them and declared endless war on their history, heritage, language and way of life.

They don't give a hoot about Mirza Taghi Khan e Amir Nezam. They want to go there and pay their homage to our arch enemies.

Them being Iranians is absolutely accidental, if they had an option to pick their place of birth I assure you they would've picked Karbala and/or Najaf. If you ask them about history and biography of "hazrat e abbas's shoohar ammeh" they will have no difficulties coming up with precise answer, but when it come to an abarmard like Amir Kabir they will act dumb as door a knob with their jaws dropped.

I never count on them when it is comes to Iran, time and time again they have proven themselves to be on the OTHER side. Just my poor $0.002.

BTW: I admire and feel proud of Amir Kabir execpt his uneducated and religiously biased stance against Baabis and Bahae'is. I might be wrong but he singlehandedly planted the seeds for deadly animosity and hatred against those 2 groups which still continues today.

Yes, that is a black spot on his record.

History judges people for what they have left behind and not so much as what they have done!!!

Nicely Said

Amir Kabir could have used the Babi and Bahai movement as a social force against the power of the clergy in Iran and failed to do so.

Shahin Jaan, I think that it is too harsh to say the failed.

We must consider the era and how people went about their lives in terms of beleifs then we can have a probable conclusion.

I still think that he was good and did a great job for the time and what he had in hands to do it with.

Please note that this is teh era that Mullahs have Naserdin Shah in tehir pocket!!
