Abdollahi claimed the gold medal in the men's -80kg category by defeating Yunus Sari from Turkey, who claimed the bronze medal at the 2010 Dutch Open, 5-1 in the final match.

Abdollahi, the bronze medalist at the 2010 Asian Games, advanced to the final match with a 1-0 victory over Azerbaijan's Ramin Azizov, the bronze medalist at the 2010 Fajr Open.
The bronze medal went to Azizov from Azerbaijan and Morocco's Issam Chernoubi.
The championships have brought together a total of 1,037 athletes and 719 officials from a record 149 countries on an entry basis. Some 80 international referees officiate at the championships.
